Rizkana & Partners secures another win in the IP litigation sector
R&P takes pride in announcing that its litigation team was successful in obtaining a positive ruling for its conglomerate French Client in the stationary sector. The client was a claimant in a trademark infringement case in Egypt.
R&P secured a ruling for the deregistration of the respondent’s registered trademark due to the respondent’s non-usage of the trademark and registering the trademark in bad faith, only to deprive the claimant from its use. The case was a long battle on two fronts, in the Economic Court and the Administrative Court. The parties battled over the definition of usage, bad faith and protection of internationally recognized trademarks under the Egyptian IP Law.
R&P takes this chance to acknowledge the efforts of our litigation team, specifically, Council Amr Ibrahim, Abd El Rahman Mokhtar, Mahmoud Menyawy and under the supervision of Managing Partner Hazim A. Rizkana on another well-deserved outcome. We also recognize the efforts of our colleague Ahmed Mokhtar, who recently moved and joined the State Lawsuits Authority.
R&P is a member of AEPPI, which is the National Group of AIPPI. Also Mr. Hazim A. Rizkana is the secretary of the AEPPI. AIPPI is a worldwide network of IP lawyers. Being a member of AIPPI improves R&P’s ability in aiding its clients in local and international IP matters as well as giving R&P the ground to play its part in the advancement of IP in Egypt and in the international sphere.
