Salma has extensive experience in international investment and commercial arbitration, obtained through working in leading law firms in Egypt and France. Her expertise revolves around public international law and international arbitration. Salma has been practising for over ten years.
Representative Experience:
- Salma advises and represents states, investors, and individuals in international commercial arbitrations, as well as in public and private international law disputes.
- Salma has acted for clients in high-profile, multi-million-dollar arbitrations under most of the major arbitral rules (ICSID, ICC, CRCICA, PCA, LCIA, UNCITRAL, and the Sugar Association of London).
- She handles matters across the MENA region and Europe, where she advises clients in numerous sectors including; waste management, oil and gas, capital markets, construction, desert reclamation/agriculture, tenders, M&A, hospitality, antiquities, and health.
- Salma has also advised public and private entities on matters involving public international law. Such matters include review and analysis of bilateral and multilateral treaties and memoranda of understanding.
Memberships:
- Salma is an accredited Mediator by CEDR in London and has represented clients in past mediations. She also trains prospective mediators in the MENA region to promote alternative dispute resolution.
- She trained prospective mediators for accreditation by CEDR as part of the International Finance Corporation’s project aimed at promoting mediation in the MENA region.
- Salma sat as a Judge in the 12th, 13th, and 14th ICC International Commercial Mediation Competitions.
- She successfully completed JAMS commercial mediation training program. The training program provides participants with specialised training in the mediation of commercial disputes and related legal matters.
- Salma was the ICC YAF Regional Chapter Coordinator for Egypt for 2017 - 2019.
Events & Speaking Engagements:
- Salma has been invited to speak in several international conferences on International Arbitration. The conferences were organised by prominent institutions in the field, including the ICC YAF, Young ICCA, and CRCICA.
Publications:
- Salma published an article on the latest developments in arbitration in the MENA region in the ICC Dispute Resolution Bulletin 2017 Issue 3.
Awards & Recognitions
- Salma was recognized as an Acritas Star by Acritas part of Thomson Reuters.
- Salma won the International Advisory Experts’ 2021 Arbitration Award in Egypt.

- Salma holds a Master’s degree in Advanced Studies in Public International Law from Leiden University.
- LLB from Cairo University.
